LINEOLATED PARAKEETSPerhaps the perfect small pet bird! Many color mutations are available in Lineolated Parakeets. These attractive little hook bills are not at all destructive in their aviary. They climb slowly up branches, preferably 1.5 inches or 4 cm in diameter, or head downward in careful acrobatics. They are sensitive to low temperatures and must be kept in mildly heated indoor accommodations during the fall and winter. Supplementary food includes sunflower seed (not too much, as it makes them too fat), all kinds of millet varieties, hemp, and a regular multivitamin & mineral supplement. They love apples and other fruits. Our linnies are weaned to a quality seed mix, chopped veggies/fruit, sprouts (recipe on web site), Cede egg food, millet, and are offered a tiny pellet. We are opposed to an all pellet diet, and do not know any breeders feeding only pellets to lineolated parakeets. Linnies love willow branches, and other branches properly sterilized are good for exercising their feet and chewing with their beaks. Quality Characteristics
